Day 2 (Tuesday)
Apologies for not updating sooner. My day two hasn’t been the smoothest. I’ve been in a lot of pain today (Tuesday) in my chest which the doctors and consultants are trying to get to the bottom of. I have a button where I can self administer the pain killer.
Ilke came and saw me in the afternoon. With assistance I was able to sit in a chair. It was not very comfortable to do so and managed two hours in it. Pain level through the roof as I got back in bed. Poor ilke witnessed it and wasn’t feeling good.
As the day progressed, pain management was improving. That was up to 3am last night. I woke with back muscle spasm that was very painful. Doctors were on hand, and I had an ultrasound in bed, and then a chest X-ray. The surgeon was called and he did a CT scan. Thankfully nothing bad. ECG was good; and I have a slightly collapsed lung and possible chest infection.
I’m comfortable now and through the worst. I’m drinking water okay and making progress, albeit slowly. The surgeon was positive and said I looked healthy after what they keep telling me, was a very major operation.
The team and carers here in Intensive care unit are amazing and I’m in good hands.
Ilke will be back in to see me later. Thank you for all your kind words and well wishes. 🥰
Keep up the good work on progressing. Don’t be impatient and see you soon
Neil
Thanks for the update and sorry that things got so uncomfortable. As you say, you’re in good hands.
Chairs are overrated anyway frankly.
Glad to see this update. The road to recovery rarely runs completely smoothly, but sounds like you’re in good hands. Make the most of chilling out in bed the cubs will have you run ragged again in no time
Be careful ! Take it slowly and keep pressing the drugs button…. 🤪🤪
