Lungs improving
Had another check-up at the hospital today. Had blood test and x-ray of my chest. It was very pleasing to hear that my lungs have vastly improved since the last couple of scans. My infection markers and white-blood cell counts are at an all-time low and almost back to normal levels.
I feel much better in myself as well. I’m not coughing as much as I was a week ago, and I’m not so short of breath doing smaller exercises. Sleeping – hit and miss, some nights I have good sleeps, other nights, not so good, however, with my improving lungs, I have been experimenting sleeping on my side, and have been able to do so for longer periods now without suffocating in the process, so it’s getting there.
I’m signed off work until the 9th of September. However, I have agreed with my manangement team that I will start to phase back in to things over the next couple of weeks, behind the scenes, taking things slowly and getting back in to the swing of things. I’m blessed to have such an amazing team I work with and a very supportive company to work for.
My next follow up now is on Monday the 2nd of September, where I meet with my surgeon who will perform an endoscopy on my throat and new stomach. From there, he will determine if he needs to strech the ‘join’ to cater for larger food to pass through. Currently, I’m still suffering with certain food types that get ‘stuck’ and need pursuading with a gulp of fluid to clear through, so I suspect he will use a medical balloon to stretch the join.
